  • It is the purpose of this article to permit signs of commercial nature in districts in which they are appropriate uses, and to regulate the size, density and placement of signs intended to be seen from a public right-of-way in the interest of highway safety, the preservation of property values, the protection of the character of the community and the general welfare. The state department of transportation also regulates signs, and applicants for sign permits who also front on state roads should contact that agency.
