§ 2-196. Central procurement system.

(a)

There is hereby established a procurement department for the county, supervised by a procurement coordinator and staffed by any other staff members of the department deemed appropriate by the county coordinator and budgeted for by the board. All procurements for goods or services for the county shall be performed through the procurement department, with cooperation of the county departments utilizing or requesting the applicable goods or services, except as otherwise provided in this article.

(b)

The county is authorized to procure goods and services of every description and nature necessary to the operation of county government.

(c)

The county procurement department or any aspects of the county procurement system shall not be utilized by any county employee to purchase goods or services for personal use.
